As an artist specialised in folding, I have focused my work for the past years in the field of Oribotic (origami x robotic) with a great interest for biomimetic robots. Beyond their innovative potential, they offer a unique canvas for alternative perceptions of technology and ecology, redefining the gap between a machine and a living entity. Our sustainable future call for logic and rational solutions but also urge for a dose of emotion, unknown and wild imaginaries. Synergies between art and science could unlock new dimensions, promoting different approach to the evolving and complex challenges we face. If androïd are robots inspired by human, what do we call and how to consider robots inspired by plants?

En tant qu’artiste spécialisée dans le pliage, je me suis concentrée ces dernières années sur le domaine de l'Oribotique (origami x robotique), avec un grand intérêt pour les robots biomimétiques. Au-delà de leur potentiel innovant, ils offrent une toile unique pour des perceptions alternatives de la technologie et de l'écologie, redéfinissant ainsi la frontière entre une machine et un être vivant. Notre avenir durable appelle à des solutions logiques et rationnelles, mais nécessite également une dose d’émotion, d’imaginaires inconnus et sauvages. Les synergies entre l’art et la science pourraient débloquer de nouvelles dimensions, promouvant des approches différentes face aux défis évolutifs et complexes auxquels nous sommes confrontés. Si les androïdes sont des robots inspirés par l’humain, comment appelons-nous et comment considérons-nous les robots inspirés par les plantes ?

Als kunstenaar gespecialiseerd in vouwen heb ik de afgelopen jaren mijn werk gericht op het gebied van Oribotica (origami x robotica), met een sterke interesse in biomimetic robots. Naast hun innovatieve potentieel bieden ze een uniek canvas voor alternatieve perspectieven op technologie en ecologie, waarbij de kloof tussen machine en levend wezen opnieuw wordt gedefinieerd. Onze duurzame toekomst vraagt om logische en rationele oplossingen, maar ook om een dosis emotie en ongerepte, wilde verbeelding. Synergieën tussen kunst en wetenschap kunnen nieuwe dimensies ontsluiten en een andere benadering bieden voor de evoluerende en complexe uitdagingen waarmee we worden geconfronteerd. Als androïden robots zijn geïnspireerd door de mens, hoe noemen we dan robots die geïnspireerd zijn door planten, en hoe beschouwen we ze?

Still relatively unknown, he views folding as a technique, a medium of expression, and a multidisciplinary field of research. His artistic projects particularly focus on the sensitive relationship between the living world and technology. Through his practice of origami, Dewi explores the interactions between the living and the robot. He specifically delves into the field of origami robotics, highlighting the aesthetic, technical, and philosophical aspects of this art form.

Dewi Brunet est un artiste plieur. Autodidacte, il pratique cette discipline depuis plus de quinze ans. Encore méconnue, il considère le pliage comme une technique, un médium d’expression et un champ de recherche pluridisciplinaire. Ses projets artistiques s’intéressent particulièrement à la relation sensible entre le monde vivant et la technologie. À travers sa pratique de l'origami, Dewi explore les interactions entre le vivant et le robot. Il se concentre notamment sur le domaine de l'oribotique, mettant en lumière les aspects esthétiques, techniques et philosophiques de l'origami-robotique.

Haar artistieke projecten richten zich vooral op de gevoelige relatie tussen de levende wereld en technologie. Via haar praktijk van origami verkent Dewi de interacties tussen het leven en de robot.
