The FARI Brussels Local Impact Award is a new award created by FARI – AI for the Common Good Institute as part of the FARI Brussels Conference 2026.
It aims to recognise a project, initiative or collaboration that demonstrates how AI, data, robotics or digital technologies can generate meaningful public value for Brussels and its communities.
The award reflects FARI’s mission to connect research, innovation and implementation in the public interest.
-
Brussels is at a decisive moment for AI.
Artificial intelligence, data and robotics are becoming increasingly important in the way cities are governed, public services are delivered, and communities engage with technology. The challenge is not only to innovate, but to ensure that innovation is responsible, inclusive, trustworthy and rooted in local needs.
This award was created to highlight projects that already contribute to this ambition and to showcase how technology can serve the common good in and for Brussels.
-
The award is open to individuals, teams and organisations whose work demonstrates a clear relevance for Brussels.
This may include:
researchers and research teams;

citizen science projects;
public-sector initiatives;
civil society and non-profit organisations;
startups, companies or industry-led initiatives;

The award is open to both projects with proven impact and projects with strong implementation potential.
